Candle Wicks (Wood) - 5 pieces

When making your own candles, wicks are of course essential. New in our range are these wooden (maple) candle wicks, an alternative to cotton wicks, which produce a crackling sound.

You will receive a bag of 5 wooden candle wicks, 13 cm long, including metal holders and adhesive pads to secure them.

The wooden candle wicks are 15 mm wide and suitable for candles with a diameter of 5 - 7.5 cm. For example, make a candle in a 50 ml tin (diameter of 6 cm).

Recipe - Making a Candle

• Choose a nice jar for your candle, preferably one that can withstand heat well, such as an oven-safe jar.
• Depending on the capacity of your chosen jar, melt the soy wax using the double boiler method. You can do this with a melting pot.
• Place the candle wick in the metal holder and, if desired, secure it by applying a little melted soy wax to the bottom of the holder and attaching it to the jar.
• Carefully pour the melted soy wax into your glass and let it solidify.
• Trim the wick to size, leaving a maximum of 0.5 cm above the candle.

TIP: Give your candle some extra sparkle by adding some mica powder.

Is your candle burned out already? Remove the remaining piece of the candle wick from the jar and fill the jar with (boiling) hot water. The soy wax will warm up and float to the top. Let the jar sit for a while. The water will cool down, the soy wax will solidify again and float on top of the water, making it easy to remove the last bit of wax. Clean your jar and you can make a new candle in it.
